A trace to two inches of new snow fell in the last 24 hours. Under cloudy skies temperatures are in the low twenties as winds blow 20-30 mph from the southwest. A moist northwest flow will keep skies cloudy today and bring snow showers. I expect 1-3 inches by tonight with a bit more in the Bridger Range. Today winds will increase slightly and temperatures will reach the high 20s. Behind this storm a high pressure ridge will bring a week of sunny skies and warm temperatures (60F!).

Last night 1-3 inches of snow fell throughout the advisory area. This morning temperatures were in the low-mid 20s F. Westerly winds blew a bit stronger overnight but eased some this morning and were blowing 10 mph gusting 15-20 mph. More clouds and some moisture will come today. High temperatures will be near freezing. Light winds will blow 5 mph gusting 15 mph from the W and may increase again this afternoon. Another 1-3 inches of snow should fall with more snow coming from the NW on Sunday.

This morning mountain temperatures were in the teens F. Near Bozeman ridgetop winds were blowing 10 mph gusting 20 mph from the SW. Near Big Sky ridgetop winds were blowing 20 mph gusting 30 mph from the SW. Today will have sun in the morning and increasing clouds this afternoon. High temperatures should be in the low 30s F and winds may increase a little this afternoon. Snow should fall tonight but only an inch or two should accumulate.

Yesterday 2-4 inches of snow fell in most areas except the Bridger Range which got dusted. This morning temperatures were in the teens F and light winds were blowing 10-15 mph from the WNW. Skies should be mostly sunny today. Winds will shift to the W and blow 5-10 mph and high temperatures will be near freezing.

One to two inches fell from Big Sky to West Yellowstone and Cooke City last night. Under cloudy skies temperatures are in the mid-teens and winds are out of the southeast at 20-25 mph in the Bridger Range and 10 mph everywhere else.  Scattered snow showers will drop another 1-2 inches in the southern mountains this morning.  This afternoon skies will become partly cloudy, temperatures will rise into the upper thirties and winds will remain light.

Winds have been blowing light out of the west to southwest at 10-20 mph.  Skies are clear this morning with mountain temperatures in the low teens. There is no new snow to report. Today will be sunny with winds remaining light and temperatures reaching the mid-thirties. Clouds will stream in tonight, but no new snow is expected.

Over the past 24 hours the mountains around West Yellowstone and Cooke City picked up 6-8 inches of snow totaling .7-.8 inches of SWE. Shower Falls Snotel site in the northern Gallatin Range received 9 inches of snow equaling 1” of SWE and the Bridger Range picked up 3 inches of snow totaling .3 inches of SWE.

This morning temperatures are in the teens F and winds are light out of WNW blowing 5-10 mph. Today, lingering moisture will produce light snow showers in the mountains, but no real accumulations are expected. Highs today will warm into the upper 20s to low 30s and winds will remain light out of the WNW. Tomorrow looks to be a warmer and drier day.

Since yesterday morning the mountains around West Yellowstone including the southern Madison Range received 8-10 inches of high density snow totaling over 1” of SWE. Cooke City picked up 6-8 inches totaling .9 inches of SWE while the mountains around Big Sky including the northern Gallatin Range picked up 6-8 inches totaling .5-.7 inches of SWE. The Bridger Range squeezed out 2-3 inches of snow totaling .3 inches of SWE.

Currently, temperatures are in the mid to upper 20s F and winds are light out of the WSW blowing 5-15 mph. Today, temps will warm into the low to mid 30s F under cloudy skies and winds will remain light to moderate out of WSW. A second round of moisture will impact southwest Montana today producing valley rain and mountain snow. Precipitation will begin by mid-morning and will continue through the day. The mountains around Cooke City and West Yellowstone should see 6-8 inches of new snow by tomorrow morning. The Big Sky area will likely see 4-6 inches and Bridger Range should pick up 2-3 inches.

Over the past 24 hours the mountains around West Yellowstone and Cooke City picked up 2-3 inches of snow totaling .3 inches of SWE. The rest of the advisory area picked up a trace to one inch. This morning temperatures are in the upper 20s to low 30s F and winds are strong out of the WSW blowing 20-40 mph with ridgetop gusts near Big Sky reaching close to 60 mph. Today, temps will warm into the upper 30s F under mostly cloudy skies and winds will remain strong out of the WSW. An approaching storm system will work its way into the area this afternoon increasing the chance of precipitation. By tomorrow morning the mountains around Cooke City will likely receive 5-7 inches of new snow. The mountains around West Yellowstone and Big Sky should receive 4-6 inches, while the mountains around Bozeman will pick up 2-4 inches.

The big winner yesterday was Big Sky which received 12 inches of new snow. All other areas received 4-5 inches. This morning temperatures were in the mid-teens to low 20s F. Winds were blowing 15 mph gusting to 25 mph from the W and SW. Today will be a mix of sun and clouds and high temperatures will be near 30 F. Winds should increase some by late afternoon and blow 15-30 mph from the SW. Snowfall will return tonight and favor the mountains near West Yellowstone and Cooke City where 3-4 inches should fall. Areas further north should get 1-2 inches.
